In Ayurveda, the three dosha types are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These three doshas are believed to be the fundamental energies that govern all bodily functions and determine a person’s unique physical and mental characteristics.
- Vata dosha: Vata is the energy that controls movement and circulation in the body. People with a predominant Vata dosha are said to be lively, energetic, and creative, but they may also be prone to anxiety and insecurity.
- Pitta dosha: Pitta is the energy that controls metabolism and digestion in the body. People with a predominant Pitta dosha are said to be intelligent, ambitious, and confident, but they may also be prone to anger and irritability.
- Kapha dosha: Kapha is the energy that controls growth and stability in the body. People with a predominant Kapha dosha are said to be calm, steady, and stable, but they may also be prone to lethargy and a lack of motivation.
In Ayurveda, it is believed that a balance of all three doshas is necessary for optimal health and well-being. Imbalances in any of the doshas can lead to physical and mental health issues.
